Kite Snowboarding in Barrie and Orillia area

Flying power kites, like those used in kite snowboarding can be dangerous. With proper instruction and attention to safe practices, kiting can be considerably safe. Taking the time to learn how to kite properly from an experienced and certified PASA instructor will ensure your enjoyment of this exciting new sport. Is this winter sport for you?

Kite snowboarding can be learned by anyone in good physical shape. With proper instruction and knowledge of safety precautions anyone can fly and enjoy kiting. The sport offers many levels of extremes and how far you choose to push it will be up to you. Some prefer to cruise around in light winds very relaxed, while others are pushing the limits each time they go out, jumping higher, and trying new aerial tricks. It is important to find the path that feels comfortable for you.

Take an introductory course and decide if you like it. We supply the equipment and you can be sure that once you fly you will be hooked.

How it works.....

Level One is a few hours flying a trainer. We look at kite construction, set up, bar and lines, flying theory, safety, wind and weather.
We review all equipment required for kiting on snow from skis to snowboards helmets, harnesses and 4 line bow kites with a 5th line safety.

Level Two, You learn to ride! You fly full sized kites. We teach you safety releases and procedures. Time to fly the kite and get pulled along the snow! You learn to Launch, Land and depower the kite. By the completion of Level 2 you’re usually up and riding on your own, riding upwind and controlling the kite, making smooth transitions and small jumps. We supply kites and harnesses; you only need to bring winter clothing, helmet and skis or snowboard.

Group Lesson Discount:
Bring some friends along! If you have a group that is interested give us a call and we can work something out.

PLEASE NOTE: other than the introductory first flight kite lesson, it is a prerequisite that you be at the intermediate snowboarder/ski level before attempting to kite ski or kite snowboard.
On behalf of KiteRider Snowboard School,
